What is a "PGY1 Community-Based Pharmacy Residency"?

 

Through the University of South Carolina College of Pharmacy, and in conjunction with the Kennedy Pharmacy Innovation Center, we offer an ASHP-accredited PGY1 Community Residency. This program allows newly-graduated pharmacists to gain practical experience at an accelerated rate over their 12 months in residency. 

Resident experiences include:

Patient Care

  • Medication Therapy Management

  • Chronic Disease State Management

  • Medication Synchronization

  •  Immunizations

  • Public Health Initiatives & Community Outreach

  • Designing and Implementing Clinical Services

Dispensing

  • Retail Staffing

  • Management of Vaccine Inventory

  • Quality Improvement Project

Teaching

  • Precepting P1-P4 pharmacy students

  • Optional Teaching Certificate

Research and Project Development

  • IRB Training and Application

  • Research Presentation at Regional and/or National Conferences

  • Development of a Business Plan
